Frank Ocean: No Secrets Here

Odd Future member Frank Ocean boldly breaks the silence about his homosexuality in a letter written to himself. After reading the letter, I became engulfed with a sense of understanding of how good it must have felt to share his true feelings with the world. Frank is an American-SInger songwriter from New Orleans, LA.

After his debut mix tape , Nostalgia Ultra, released in 2011, he began to build a fan base thanks to his angelic voice and notable lyricism. He worked with Kanye West & Jay-Z “Watch the Throne” project No Church in the Wild and his hit single Thinkin Bout You is getting a ton of airplay on radio stations nationwide.

The news became headline worthy on many popular news sites and social networks. Why? Because the people love to hate. People even went on to say he’s not gay, that was just an encounter. Or that he’s lying, just trying to boost sales for his  next album, Channel Orange releasing July 17th. Frank Ocean is bi-sexual, and living free! One’s sexuality does not reflect their ability to produce quality music. Ocean has definitely separated himself from other artists because he is transparent and without shame. I posted this tweet after scrolling down my Twitter feed,

I love Frank Ocean… He’s talented then, he’s talented now! You’d be surprised how many artists are gay, they’re just not living free! -@GisellePR88

Just earlier this week, CNN’s Anderson Cooper also came out of silence when he announced that he is gay. I commend the two for declaring their independence and being bold enough to speak the truth. Ironic that the news leaked on Americas Independence Day? That’s how you celebrate FREEDOM!

Frank, LIVE.. LOVE!

  1. Best Music Moments of 2019 feat. Awesomeisjayell, Tyler the Creator, Homecoming & More! – Giselle Ave. Avatar

[…] This year has been filled with music moments worth blogging about. The culture itself is united in the name of good music, dope beats, clever drops, and artistic evolution. Here on Giselle Ave. we pride ourselves in keeping our ears to the streets when it comes to the latest and hottest music drops of the year. In fact, one of our very first blog posts was an ode to Frank Ocean’s declaration of [sexual] independence and how liberating it is to live your own truth. You can actually peep what we had to say about it here, way back in 2012. […]
