Relive the 5 Best CFDA Red Carpet Looks: Featuring Solange, Kerry Washington and More!

Fashionistas,

If you’re anything like me, you’ve had this date circled on your calendar for months. Why, you ask? The CFDA Fashion Awards are being held tonight in the Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in NYC. Now if you aren’t familiar, the CFDA Awards recognize extraordinary design excellence and contributions that have made been to a variety of areas, including fashion. Needless to say, I  cannot wait to watch fashion industry royalty and the like grace the red carpet in stunning creations. In my mind the CFDA Awards are tied with the Met Gala for the “Oscars of Fashion” title, and fittingly so with celebs such as Kim Kardashian, Taraji P. Henson, Diane von Furstenberg, and Pharrell (just to name a few) in attendance. No big deal right?! As we gear up for tonight, there are still a few looks from years past that I just cannot get enough of, and as always I can’t wait to give you the scoop on the best of the best.

Let’s chat about their looks, shall we?

5. Chanel Iman in Monique Lhuillier

attends the 2014 CFDA fashion awards at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center on June 2, 2014 in New York City.

Have I mentioned how obsessed I am with an all-black look? There’s just something so striking about being able to make a statement and turn heads with such a dark hue. Throw in a few beads and sequins and I’m head over heels, honey! Chanel Iman was a vision of beauty in this beaded Monique Lhuillier gown. It fit her like a glove and gave just the right amount of sex appeal with sleek cut-outs. Slay!

4. Solange Knowles in Calvin Klein

Every single time Solange graces the red carpet, she gives me #carefreeblackgirl like no other and last year’s look was no different. Looking regal in a shimmering gold Calvin Klein Collection gown, she channeled Diana Ross in the best way possible and made the look pop with a larger than life ‘fro and vibrant pink lip. It doesn’t get any better!

3. Kerry Washington in Jason Wu

I’m a sucker for a bold pop of color on the red carpet, especially when so many stars seem to be play it safe. So when Kerry Washington showed up at the 2013 CFDA Awards wearing a yellow Jason Wu gown, I got all of my life. Her barely-there makeup and pulled back hair did a great job of bringing attention to the dress. Love!

2. Nicole Richie in Marc Jacobs

I am a diehard fan of Nicole Richie‘s funky, effortless style. She knows what works and doesn’t work for her and always has fun experimenting with different looks. I especially fawned over this slinky gold Marc Jacobs number that she paired with a Christian Louboutin clutch and modest jewels.  A sophisticated red lip set off the look perfectly.

1. Rihanna in Adam Selman

It was the dress seen ’round the world! Even if you aren’t a follower of these fashion events, you’ve seen this image and have probably been subjected to about thirty think pieces on Rihanna‘s attire at last year’s CFDA Awards. Rocking what I believe to be one of the best red carpet looks ever, the starlet wore a custom Adam Selman gown, complete with headscarf and fur, made with over 200,000 Swarovski crystals. Show ’em how it is done, Rih!

Who do you think will be best dressed tonight? Any celebs you are hoping to see shut down the red carpet? Let me know in the comments!

Stay Stylish,
