If you’re reading this that means you officially survived another #FourthofJuly weekend. *breaks out into nae-nae* I hope you had your fair share of festive cocktails, delicious food, and family shenanigans, and are feeling refreshed for the rest of the week. I, for one, still can’t believe it’s already July – seriously, where has the year gone? While I frantically try to get my life together as we enter the last half of the year, the fashion and entertainment world has been reeling!
Let’s get into the latest, shall we?
Kelly Rowland Takes ‘Empire’
Tarai P. Henson and Kelly Rowland?! I won’t be able to handle the slay! Kelly Rowland has signed on to be a part of Fox’s hit drama, playing Lucious Lyon’s mother in a series of flashbacks. Now if you remember, at the end of the first season, Lucious finds himself behind bars plotting revenge on those who have tried to take him down (namely Cookie). So I wonder if Mama Lyon will be just the voice of reason he needs to get his act together?
The second season premieres on Sept. 23. I’ll be watching!
Teen Vogue’s Latest Issue Features Three Women of Color
Models Aya Jones, Lineisy Montero, and Imaan Hammam are the true definition of #blackgirlmagic on the cover of Teen Vogue‘s August 2015 issue, looking laid-back in matching denim. Can we talk about how this is such a huge moment for little brown girls everywhere? This is the first time in recent history that a mainstream fashion magazine has spotlighted three women of color as up and coming “it girls” in the fashion world. (Remember Lucky Magazine’s February blogger issue with not one brown girl in sight? *side-eye*) At a time when we are constantly attacked and told that we aren’t good enough, all while our beauty is appropriated by others, it is so refreshing to see Vogue‘s little sister take such a stand and showcase diversity. Absolutely love!

Muva Badu is the epitome of perfection! Looking absolutely stunning on the August 2015 cover of Essence Magazine, Erykah Badu strikes a pose wearing a black top hat and matching shirt, a feather neck piece, and print pants. Unveiled at the Essence Music Festival, this mark’s the mag’s first-ever global issue, which will include stories from various places around the world.
The new issue hits newsstands on July 10. Will you be picking up a copy?
Juicy Couture Goes High Fashion
Juicy Couture recently released surprising looks from its Fall 2015 campaign, a huge step away from the matching velour track suits and sparkling tees it has become known for. Shot by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott and styled by famed stylist Carlyne Cerf de Dudzeele, the campaign stars models Taylor Hill and Renee Stryd in a bevy of mixed prints, bright colors, and girly accessories. I can’t wait to shop the collection’s fun, wearable pieces, what about you?
