Can you believe summer is mere weeks away? It feels like just yesterday we were ushering in the New Year and now, 2018 is almost over. Crazy! As you rush get your body ready for upcoming beach days, tropical vacations and fun in the sun, the last thing you want to stress over is swimwear, am I right? Not only do you want to look good, but you want to be comfortable and confident in whatever piece you decide to throw on.
Don’t fret! With this season’s swimwear trends, you can choose a style that flatters your body type and makes you feel amazing for every event on your seasonal schedule.
Check below for a few of my personal faves:
Cut-outs are all the rage this year. They add a modern, edgy vibe to a classic one-piece. This style allows you to be bold and tease some skin while leaving a little something something to the imagination. The key is to make sure the cut-outs highlight your best features. I love this Van Mildert piece because I’m more bottom heavy and it helps give the illusion of cleavage. Major key.
Embrace your inner girly girly with bright and vibrant prints. A colorful swimsuit is so much more interesting than your basic, solid go-to. Mix polka dots and stripes for a super trendy look or leopard and floral print to turn heads. Personally, this Topshop piece is calling my name.
Take A Plunge
Who said one-pieces can’t be sultry? Make a splash in this Net-a-porter simple-yet-sexy plunging one-piece swimsuit. It is perfectly accented with ruching details to hide your midsection as you’re drinking margaritas poolside. Not to mention the shade is absolutely gorgeous. My melanin will be popping in this. Love.
If minimalism is more your speed, bring the off-the-shoulder trend to the beach with a bare-shoulder swimsuit. You can keep things simple while still transforming your classic pieces. Plus there are tons of off-the-shoulder options, too. From frills to sleek maillots. I’m eyeing this nautical piece from Matches Fashion.
Retro High Waists
In fashion, every trend comes back in new and improved ways. And history is definitely repeating itself as the retro high-waisted look made popular in the 50s and 60s is back! It is super flattering and accentuates your curves. And you know I’m all about anything that makes my tummy look cinched to the gawds. If you really want to have fun, try fun textures and stripes, like this look from Moda Operandi.
Mad About Ruffles
A ruffled swimsuit can add an ultra-feminine detail to an already bold suit, like this one from Net-a-Porter. You can opt for a solid color and let the ruffles take center stage or go for mixed prints for a larger than life appeal.
Are you ready for swimsuit season? Which trend do you like best? Let me know in the comments!
