The Real Currency Is Energy, Spend It Wisely

Story time!

When I first moved away from home, I found myself out in the world, desperately seeking more. I felt like Alice in Wonderland! I was seeking more things to do, more people to meet, more events to attend, more bags to secure. I was in my roaring 20s, pouring all of my energy into getting more out of life. Hence, why Drake’s album “More Life,” felt like my personal anthem when it was released.

I was working a full-time job, going to graduate school at night, and building my brand/side hustle in between time.

But here’s the thing, although I was, in fact, getting more out of life, I was doing waaaaaay too much to accomplish this goal! I was hustling, bustling, and forcing my way into spaces I thought I belonged in. I was forcing it all. I was using all of my energy to maintain healthy family relationships, that simply weren’t there. I was forcing friendships with people I outgrew years ago. I was even forcing myself to be happy with what I accomplished, even though I knew I wasn’t staying true to myself in the career path I was in. It didn’t take long for me to realize I was over it.

After several years of operating like this, one day I looked up and realized I was burnt out, tired, and over it. When I felt like quitting (moving back home and hitting reset), that’s when God stepped in and simply said: are you finished, or are you done? Because, none of this was in my plan for you, this was your plan for you!

So, I took a moment to reflect and hit reset. Luckily, around this time, the contract I was working on allowed me to work from home full-time. I’d just adopted my cat, Mr. Sidney, and I finally had my own space (no more roommates for me!) When I sat down and sat with myself, I realized how much energy I was using, just to get by. It was quite sad, actually. I’d put so much energy into trying to do everything right, that I forgot about me. I didn’t leave any energy for, me. I gave it to my career, my network, my faux friendships, my toxic family members. I gave my energy away, and got little to nothing in return. This is the lesson to be shared in this blog post.

Energy Is The Real Currency

Stay with me now, the real currency is NOT U.S. Dollars, Euros, or even Israeli new shekels— the real currency is energy. Your energy is your vibration, whether that’s a good vibe or bad vibe. We are currently programmed to give our energy in exchange for money. But this is not the truth, it’s an illusion. Think about it, in the “old world” we were all taught to give our energy to our employers for 40+ hours a week, in exchange for a steady paycheck. After two weeks of giving all of our energy to our job, we receive a paycheck. And no matter how MUCH you make, the amount of your paycheck just doesn’t seem like its enough. Next thing you know, it’s the end of the month and you have more bills than money, and it’s a recurring cycle that seems to never end!

That is, until now.

Right now, a lot of people worldwide, especially essential workers in America, have questions! They are reflecting on just how much energy they’re putting out, in exchange for what they receive:

Well, if I have to go to work during a global pandemic, then I should receive hazardous pay! I’m putting my life at risk for this job, and it ain’t worth it!

Energy is defined as the capacity for vigorous activity; available power! Now, replace the word “energy” with “power.” Your POWER is the real currency. That’s right, you are a source of power/energy– and without you and your power– NOTHING is possible. This was such a revelation for me, and once I took my power back, my entire life changed for the better. I realized I was in complete control of where I used my ENERGY source. I took responsibility for those times where I gave my energy/power away– for free!

I finally understood that money isn’t the real currency, energy is!

Earlier this year in January 2020 B.C. (before Coronavirus) I turned down an opportunity to travel across the world to attend a Tech Conference, because the amount of money I was being paid was NOT worth the amount of ENERGY it would take to travel across the world and back, for 5 days, to attend a work-related conference! I decided to spend my energy more wisely, and I’ve seen a HUGE return on investing my energy back into MYSELF.

When you focus on using your energy wisely, you begin to attract everything you want into your life! Whether that’s money, loooong money, true love, health, happiness, freedom– your energy is your personal superpower. We are all equipped with supernatural talents and gifts from God, and it is our job to be good stewards of the power/energy we’ve been given— to make every day count.

Today, I challenge you to spend your energy doing things you actually love,  instead of spending your energy, doing things you hate.

Instead of spending your energy focused on the negative aspects of life, try to spend that same amount of energy to focus on the positive. If energy is the real currency, consider the fact that you have 24 hours a day to spend your energy wisely. You can even budget your energy for the week! Trust me, it sounds silly, but it works. It saves you a ton of ENERGY, and keeps you aligned with your purpose in life— your why.

As we continue to push through these uncertain times, take a moment to re-evaluate how you’re spending your energy. After all, the real currency is energy– not money. Spend yours wisely.
