Giving Yourself Space to Be Your Authentic Self: Embracing the Valleys in Life

Hey loves, Giselle here!

Let’s talk real for a sec. To me, ever since the April 8th solar eclipse, the energy has been WEIRD outside. I’v read some of the most alarming news headlines, yet some people are reading the same headlines completely unfazed. Miami is flooding, tragedy in Downtown Atlanta, a bus hijacking, water pipes bursting, cancelled concerts, deep fake damaging content, project 2025, and the list goes on! Things are WILD y’all, things are NOT business as usual.

Honestly, we are all on social media, maybe even everyday. But social media can paint a picture of sunshine and rainbows, but life isn’t always a perfectly curated Instagram feed. There are valleys, detours, and moments where everything feels just plain…ugh.

But here’s the thing: those valleys hold immense power. They’re opportunities for growth, for self-discovery, and for forging a resilience that lets you shine even brighter on the mountaintops. The key? Embracing your authentic self, even when it feels messy and uncomfortable. Learning how to be yourself is something I think we are all slowly but surely realizing is key to living an abundant life. Not too long ago, we were all encouraged to be like everyone else, but that same encouragement can now be damaging to your overall well-being because the truth is setting us all free!

Where to start? Let’s talk about it.

Mindset Matters

It’s easy to get caught up in the negativity bias – our brains are wired to focus on threats. But we can retrain our thinking! When you hit a valley, acknowledge it, but don’t dwell there. Instead, remind yourself that this is temporary, a blip on your beautiful journey. Focus on the lessons you’re learning, the strength you’re building.

Tap into the Unseen

There’s a whole world beyond the physical. Call it intuition, spirit guides, or universal energy – whatever resonates with you – there’s a force guiding us. Meditation, spending time in nature, or simply quieting your mind can help you connect with this unseen force. It can offer a sense of calm, direction, and a reminder that you’re not alone.

Feel the Feels (All of Them)

We often push down uncomfortable emotions, but that just creates a pressure cooker waiting to explode. Give yourself space to feel your feelings, even the not-so-pretty ones. Cry, scream into a pillow, write them down – whatever helps you process. Remember, feeling your emotions doesn’t make you weak – it makes you human. Vulnerability is a superpower, don’t underestimate the ability to be seen!

Embrace the Journey

Life isn’t a straight line to happily ever after. It’s a beautiful, messy adventure with twists, turns, and unexpected detours. By embracing the valleys alongside the mountaintops, you’ll discover a depth and strength you never knew you had.

Give Yourself Space To … Be

Give yourself space to — be. Be with yourself, and all that comes with you. Let go of the need to know, and embrace the unknown. It’s okay to not always feel up for the challenge, or even the day, but show up anyway. Show up for yourself, and your dreams. And most of all, focus. Focus on yourself more than you have ever before! This will allow you to really get to know your true self, while silencing the noise that keeps you in a space of forcing and trying. There is no try– just be!

So, my loves, give yourself permission to be your authentic self, even when it feels uncomfortable. Feel your feelings, connect with your inner wisdom, and trust that the valleys are just part of the magnificent journey that is your life. Remember, you are strong, you are worthy, and you’ve got this!

Sending you all the love,

Giselle
