Hey beautiful souls,
Today, I wanted to dive into something that I feel is often overlooked: our body’s whispers and how they might hold deeper, spiritual meanings. Specifically, let’s talk about fibroids. I know, it’s not exactly a topic people are dying to chat about at brunch, but hear me out.
Fibroids are more than just a physical condition; some believe they could be linked to emotional and spiritual imbalances within the body. And if you’re a regular traveler here on The Avenue, then you know I believe everything is spiritual! So, grab your favorite cup of tea (mine’s always Darjeeling with a dash of honey!) and let’s explore this deeper layer together.
What Are Fibroids, Anyway?
Before we go down the spiritual rabbit hole, let’s quickly talk about what fibroids are in case you’re not familiar. Fibroids are benign (non-cancerous) growths that develop in or around the uterus. They’re surprisingly common, and many women experience them at some point in their lives, especially African-American women. When I read that fibroids impact African-American women the most, I instantly thought: there HAS to be a spiritual connection. Did you know that some people view fibroids as symbolic of emotional blockages or unresolved issues within the body?
It’s wild to think about, but hear me out—our bodies don’t just carry physical symptoms; they often hold onto emotional energy, too. And sometimes, fibroids are thought to be a way for the body to express these deeper, spiritual struggles.

1. Creativity Blockage & Feminine Energy
Let’s start with something I’m super passionate about—creativity. The uterus is often seen as the sacred space of creation, both physically (hello, womb!) and metaphorically (think of all the creative ideas and dreams we nurture here). Some believe that fibroids can be tied to a blockage in creativity or our feminine energy. If you’re feeling stuck, uninspired, or disconnected from your true self, fibroids might be your body’s way of showing you that it’s time to reclaim that energy.
Are you feeling disconnected from your passions or struggling to express yourself? It might be time to check in with your creative flow and nurture your feminine power. You deserve to be in full alignment with your creative potential.
2. Repressed Emotions & Unhealed Trauma
Another layer here—fibroids may be a reflection of unhealed emotions or past trauma that you’ve been carrying. Perhaps it’s from your mother’s wounds, old friendship heartbreaks, unprocessed grief, or suppressed anger. Many spiritual practitioners believe that fibroids can manifest when our emotional pain is not fully dealt with.
Think of it like this: Our emotions are energy in motion, and when we don’t allow them to flow freely, they can get “stuck” in our bodies. If you’ve been carrying emotional weight for a long time, fibroids could be the physical manifestation of that unprocessed pain. The good news? Acknowledging and healing that emotional trauma can support both your body and soul in moving forward.
3. The Struggle to Let Go
How many of us have had a hard time letting go of something (or someone) that no longer serves us? Fibroids could symbolize the struggle to release. Whether it’s a toxic relationship, old beliefs that no longer align with who you are, or a past version of yourself, holding onto the past can literally manifest in your body.
So, if you’re holding on too tight to something that’s no longer meant for you, your body might be giving you a little nudge to release it. The process of letting go is deeply liberating and healing, both for your mind and your body. Are you ready to release and make space for new beginnings?
4. Self-Worth & Nurturing Energy
The womb is also connected to the concept of nurturing—both in terms of caring for others and ourselves. Fibroids may indicate an imbalance in how you’re nurturing yourself. Maybe you’re pouring all your energy into other people and neglecting your own needs. Or, perhaps, you’re struggling with feelings of unworthiness or guilt when it comes to prioritizing your own well-being. I know I am destined for financial freedom in a massive way. However, I might have my own personal battles with self-worth. Feelings of unworthiness are deeply ingrained into women and the feminine collective, know that you are not alone.
If this resonates with you, it might be time to put yourself first. Practice self-love, set healthy boundaries, and make space for your own dreams and desires. Your worth is immeasurable, and you deserve all the love and care you give to others.
5. Suppressed Feminine Power
Okay, ladies, let’s talk about our feminine energy. Fibroids can sometimes symbolize the suppression of our feminine power. This could look like not honoring our intuition, neglecting our sexual energy, or being afraid to step fully into our femininity. Many of us have been conditioned to be “strong” or “independent” at the expense of our more vulnerable, nurturing qualities.
If you’ve been over-giving or neglecting your own needs for the sake of others, fibroids may be your body’s way of signaling that it’s time to reconnect with your feminine essence. Trust your intuition, embrace your sensuality, and allow yourself to be fully YOU.
6. Resistance to Change
Another common spiritual interpretation is that fibroids could represent resistance to change. If you’re feeling stuck in old patterns or afraid to step into the unknown, fibroids might be showing up as a sign that it’s time to embrace transformation. Growth is often uncomfortable, but it’s necessary for evolution.
Are there any areas of your life where you’ve been avoiding change? Trust that the universe (and your body) are guiding you to release what’s no longer serving you and to step into the next chapter of your life.
Healing the Womb: Moving Forward
Okay, I know this has been a lot to take in, but trust me—your body is always communicating with you. If you’re dealing with fibroids, it could be a powerful opportunity for healing and self-discovery. Here are a few things you can try to support your spiritual and emotional well-being:
- Emotional Release: Whether it’s through journaling, therapy, or talking to someone you trust, find ways to release any pent-up emotions. Don’t bottle it all in!
- Energy Healing: Consider practices like Reiki, chakra healing, or womb healing rituals. These can help you clear blocked energy and restore balance to your body.
- Meditation & Affirmations: Practice daily affirmations like, “I honor my body,” or “I am worthy of love and healing.” Visualization is also powerful—imagine your body filled with light and healing energy.
- Movement & Yoga: Gentle yoga poses, especially those targeting the pelvis, can help release stored emotions and support healing.
- Spiritual Guidance from Divine Wombmen: There are women like Queen Afua that have shared the Sacred Woman teachings. There are online stores for Goddesses like you, such as The Goddess Collection and Ancient Healing Teas, there is divine help!
- Watch to My Podcast: You are not alone. I’ve created a new podcast to share these types of stories. We need to hear from real women.
Remember, beautiful souls, your body is not just a vessel—it’s a reflection of your emotional and spiritual state. Pay attention to what it’s telling you, and know that healing is always possible.
With love,
Giselle 🌸
