Mom Life: Mother of two sons, a 15-year-old, and 11-year-old. They are both active in school sports, including basketball and football.
Entrepreneur Life: Jonell has been a business owner for about 20 years. Prior to starting her career in Public Relations, Jonell was in real estate. In 2008, she began the planning process of establishing her boutique PR firm, which officially launched in 2009. Over the past six years, Jonell P.R. Brand Marketing & Services has seen a lot of success. When one thinks of “PR,” Jonell is surely a brand name that comes to mind. She has worked with multiple clients on the Entertainment scenes of Atlanta, Los Angeles, and New York City. Some of her more recent clients include Grammy-Award winning producer, Mr. Bangladesh; Songwriter, Sean Garrett and WeTV’s Trina Braxton.
Mompreneur Life: Jonell’s day starts around 7:30AM with Red Bull and coffee– lots of coffee. Although being a business owner is challenging, Jonell enjoys having flexibility. Jonell instilled independence in her sons at an early age. This was vital in her efforts of balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship. Preparing meals and being familiar with the public transportation system are ways her sons were able to learn the basic skills needed in life. Jonell calls herself “The Mommy Police,” because she closely monitors her sons activity online, and on their cell phones.
My children are my main priority, and they are no one else’s responsibility but mine!
Jonell says the only way she is able to balance all of this requires planning ahead, prioritizing, and relying on her strong support team.
Advice to Aspiring Mompreneurs:
Never get too busy for your kids!
Spare the rod, spoil the child!
