HBO MAX’S Scene In Black, Celebrates Creatives in New Orleans

Last week, HBO Max celebrated storytelling, music, and culture with the following events at The Chicory and the Ace Hotel in New Orleans.

Day One


On Friday, July 1 HBO Max curated a mixer to celebrate and uplift the creative community of New Orleans with ‘Katrina Babies Director Edward Buckles Jr

Day Two

On Saturday, July 2 HBO Max POV hosted a conversation over brunch to highlight multicultural and behind-the-scenes talent within HBO Max programming.

That afternoon, Felicia Leatherwood, head of the hair department of HBO Max’s Rap Sh!t, and Hannah Diop, Founder of Sienna Naturals, conducted a live hair demo, celebrating Black women and diverse hair textures.

Rap Sh!t Screening


Later that evening, Issa Rae’s new comedy series, Rap Sh!t, premiered an exclusive screening and hosted a conversation featuring the stars of the series.

And to round out the evening, Scene in Black took over the Ace Hotel with a DJ set and surprise musical guests Kali and Light Skin Keisha to bring the essence of Rap Sh!t to life.

Finally, on Sunday, July 3 Scene in Black partnered with RNBHouseParty to host a creator’s brunch, bringing influencers and tastemakers together for the weekend finale.
