From Burnout to Bliss: How Millennials Can Create Bliss in a Burned Out World

Let’s face it: things are getting very weird and it seems like the weirdness isn’t letting up anytime soon! Since the world literally stopped in 2020, absolutely nothing has been the same. From friendships, to relationships with close family, to my personal outlook on healthcare as we know it, everything is literally weird. And if you’re a millennial like me, you’ve probably noticed how weird things have been for the majority of your life. It’s not you, it’s everything!

The way the world worked before — work a 9-5, cash out your 401k, raise a family, buy a huge house, marry the love of your life, and live happily ever after — is almost impossible in today’s timeline. I use the phrase timeline to reference an era in time, space, and reality, because what is time anyway?

Not to mention the horrid layoffs and the sheer lack of jobs in the market, and the student loans that are literally just sitting there. Like, what is really going on?

For starters, Mother Earth is tired. Planet Earth, itself, is burned out. She is ready to be loved properly, and to be treated with love, kindness, and respect. But that’s another blog post for another day.

Why Are Millennials Burned Out?

Millennials are often referred to as the “burnout generation” because they face a unique set of challenges that can lead to physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion. One of the main causes of burnout is the pressure to succeed in a highly competitive and uncertain job market. Millennials are often juggling multiple jobs or side hustles to make ends meet and keep up with the rising cost of living.

Additionally, social media and technology have created an always-on culture where it can be difficult to disconnect and recharge. Many millennials also struggle with high levels of student loan debt, which can make it challenging to save for the future or feel financially secure. The combination of these factors can leave millennials feeling overwhelmed, anxious, and burnt out.

Meh.

7 Ways to Ascend from Burn Out to Bliss

As millennials, we often find ourselves juggling multiple responsibilities and commitments, leaving little time for ourselves. This can lead to stress, exhaustion, and burnout. Not to mention all of the expectations placed on us by society to meet certain milestones by certain ages. Girl where?! This blog post is for the millennials who are burnt-out and over it! Don’t worry, you’re not alone.

But fear not, my friends, because I’ve got some tips and tricks to help you find balance in a busy world and move from burnout to bliss, PLUS a few products to help you get started on your journey!

Prioritize Self-Care: It’s important to take care of ourselves first, so we can show up as our best selves for others. Prioritize self-care by scheduling time for things like meditation, exercise, and hobbies that bring you joy. One way I prioritize self-care daily is listening to high frequency music, and taking spiritual baths daily. It really helps me center myself and tap back in to my own energy.

Create Boundaries: Learn to say no and set boundaries to protect your time and energy. It’s okay to put yourself first and prioritize your well-being. Especially with all of the pressure of “friendships,” nowadays, girl leave me alone! I’ve learned how to openly communicate when I need a boundary in place for pressures coming towards me and unwanted energies by simply sharing my truth. I welcome feedback, and even a chance to hear their side of the story but at the end of the day this is my life and I have to protect myself at all costs. So boundaries are a great way to protect your own peace and mental health, when needed.

Practice Gratitude: Gratitude shifts our perspective and helps us focus on the positive aspects of our lives. Take time each day to reflect on what you’re grateful for. When you find yourself in the midst of a complaint, take a moment to be grateful for the air you breathe, and the food you eat. Even the gifts of enjoying all five senses, I’m so grateful to be able!

Simplify Your Life: Declutter your physical and mental space by getting rid of things that no longer serve you. Simplifying your life can help you feel more in control and reduce stress. Get rid of old clothes and clothing items with holes or items that are worn out. Also, it is great to get rid of items that hold toxic memories because who has room for those!?

Connect with Nature: Spending time in nature can have a calming effect on the mind and body. Take a walk in the park or spend time gardening to connect with nature and find inner peace. Listen, we lived in Downtown Atlanta for 5 years and happily relocated to a community nestled in the middle of nature. We’re near the river and take nature walks at least once a day. We even take our shoes off and ground, as a way to connect with the Earth. Get back to nature.

Nourish Your Body: Eating a balanced diet and staying hydrated can have a positive impact on your energy levels and overall well-being. Incorporate healthy snacks and drinks into your routine, such as herbal teas or protein bars. You can also commit to preparing healthy meals for yourself, at least once a day. We commit to daily oats and fruit as an act of self-love. Try adding a real meal to your daily food intake.

Practice Mindfulness: Mindfulness is the practice of being present and fully engaged in the moment. Incorporate mindfulness into your daily routine by taking a few deep breaths or practicing yoga.

And there you have it, loves! These tips and tricks can help you find balance in a busy world and move from burnout to bliss.
