5 Black-Owned Online Stores We Can’t Stop Shopping This Summer

Fashionistas,

It’s the start of a new week, so you know what that means – it’s time to talk shopping. Nothing excites me more than stocking up on new fashion and beauty products. But you know what’s even better? Supporting women who look like me while doing so! I’m a huge fan of backing black-owned businesses and thoroughly enjoy spending my dollars where they truly count. Not only does it give me a sense of community knowing that I’m supporting another businesswoman of color, but the options are usually ones that I wouldn’t be able to find at larger retailers.  To enable my love of all things fashion, I’ve dedicated an entire post to sharing my must-have shops.

Scroll down to shop a few of my faves!

1. Love Cortnie

An online shop that was birthed in her grandmother’s kitchen, Cortnie set out to design an array of handbags that she always wanted to wear but could never find in-stores. With more than 100 styles, including clutches, minis, bucket bags, and more, the hand-sewn Love, Cortnie line features colorful prints, metallic shades, and contrasting textures, making them perfect for any summer occasion. Cortnie is also a style blogger, and I love supporting women who are making a name for themselves by showing their personality and doing what they love! My favorite piece in her collection? The vibrant ‘BOOM!’ clutch. Shop here.

2. Adore New York

Combining her love of all things leather and luxury, Jessie Adore‘s design philosophy is rooted in attention to detail and precision. Debuting in 2014,  Adore New York is an American luxury label specializing in exquisitely crafted Italian leather goods. Now let me be the first to tell you that when you find a quality handbag, you’ve found sartorial gold – no matter the season.  If you’re looking for a great investment piece, the ‘Sesame’ leather clutch is IT! You can splurge here.

3. DooBop

As the answer to the lack of representation for all types of beauty, DooBop aims to be the one-stop shopping destination for women of color who seek products that work just for them. This is one of my favorite online shops. I love the fact that all products featured have been tested and hand-picked, so you aren’t being given blind advice. I just purchased Skin & Co’s Olive Sier-Oil and it’s done wonders for my combination skin in this dreadful Florida heat. Indulge here.

4. The Wrap Life

The city of Brooklyn is full of lively and rich African American culture, so it is truly fitting that The Wrap Life, which is all about providing colorful and unique goods to help black women be more expressive in their everyday lives, was created right in the center. Founded by Nnenna Stella, The Wrap Life debuted in January 2014, with the goal to inspire online shoppers to be more creative in their looks. I call it protective styling made easy.  And the best part? The online shop also has all the jewelry, accessories, and handbags that your little heart could desire. I love a bold accent piece, just like this pink and purple headwrap. Get yours here.

5. Kashmir.VIII

I am a huge fan of all things 90s. The prominence of black actors and actresses on TV shows like Martin, Living Single and Different World is something that is so missed in today’s era. I remember rushing home after school just so I could catch up with my favorite fictional characters. Created by visual artist Kashmir Thompson, the site pays homage to these black characters in a stylish way. It also features custom-made paintings, home decor accessories, tees and much more. One of my favorite pieces is the Different World clutch (because who didn’t love Whitley Gilbert growing up?!) You have to have it! Purchase the vibrant clutch here.
