Get Organized Before You Go
Did you know that 66% of travelers do not start packing until a few hours before their trip? This can lead to forgetting essentials and spending extra money abroad to replace them. But don’t worry, I’ve got you covered with everything you need to pack!

Must-Haves for a Smooth Trip
Printed Versions of Everything: In today’s tech-savvy world, we rely on our phones for everything, from flight tickets to hotel bookings. But, always have a backup! Print out copies of your flight tickets, insurance policies, and booking confirmations. This way, you’re prepared even if your phone dies or you can’t get a signal.
Portable Charger: Invest in a portable charger so you’re never without your phone, even if you’re on the go all day. Just remember to charge it every evening!
Passport and ID Card: This might seem obvious, but one in 10 holidaymakers admit to leaving their passport at home. Ensure your passport and any other IDs are in your bag well before you leave for the airport.
Medications: Pack any medications you need in your carry-on bag. This way, if your checked luggage is delayed, you won’t be without essential meds. Bring proof of prescriptions to avoid issues at customs and to make it easier to refill if needed.
Sunscreen and After-Sun: I love embracing the summer sunshine! But we have to protect our skin, yes people with melanin-rich skin, I’m talking to you too! Protect your skin with a sunscreen that has at least SPF 30 and reapply regularly. After-sun can soothe your skin after a day in the sun.
First Aid Kit: A small first aid kit is a travel essential. Listen, things happen! It’s wise to even purchase pharmacy blister packs so you can store all of your medications safely and securely. Here’s a list of a few items to include:
- Plasters/Band-aids
- Gauze
- First-aid tape
- Antiseptic wipes
- Painkillers (Paracetamol, Ibuprofen)
- Bandages
Fashion Essentials: Growing up, we’d always get brand new underwear and socks while traveling and I’m keeping up with this family tradition. There’s nothing like a fresh pack of undies while traveling the world! But what about your activities while on your trip? What to wear! This for me is where all the stress comes from.
Packing clothes can be tricky, but here’s a basic list to get you started:
- Underwear and socks
- Sandals/flip-flops
- Trainers
- Formal footwear (heels, wedges)
- T-shirts
- Dresses
- Shorts
- Lightweight pants
- Cardigan/Jacket
- Swimsuits
Don’t Forget the Extras!
- Microfibre Towel: Perfect for the beach and dries quickly.
- Sunglasses and Sunhat: Stylish and protective.
- Hair Tools: If you love styling your hair and can’t live without your hairdryer or straighteners, consider travel-sized versions.
- Basic Toiletries: Dental care, skincare, haircare, and body products.
- Adaptors: Different countries have different plug sockets, so check and pack accordingly.
It’s Time To Go!
Packing might not be the most exciting part of traveling, but it’s definitely one of the most important. By being organized and following this guide, you’ll be able to avoid last-minute stress and make sure you’ve got everything you need for a fabulous trip!
