There are so many hidden gems in and around Atlanta, and I can’t get enough of them! The best part about living in a Metro City is the fact that you can travel 10 miles or less and experience entirely different neighborhoods, cultures, foods, and experiences. I’ve been living in “Metro” Atlanta for 4 years, and I technically just moved to Atlanta this past Winter. Let me explain, it’s one thing to live in Metro Atlanta, but there’s a whole new world in the actual city of Atlanta— both good and bad.
While we mostly hear about the dark side of city living, I’m here– Belle in the City– to share a few hidden gems located in my new neighborhood of Downtown Atlanta! I, personally, love living in the city. I like being able to walk out of my door and into the bustle of city-living. The train station is in walking distance, the new Atlanta Streetcar offers another form of transit, and the energy is extremely vibrant. Oh, let’s not forget the random movie sets you may find yourself passing by at any given moment!

With multiple projects underway to renew Downtown Atlanta, I am hopeful for the future of ATL in the next 5 years. One of the best attractions of Atlanta: the FOOD! With great dining all around the city, I want to shed a little light on a few of my favorites places to dine and experience in the Sweet Auburn Historic District.
Here’s my list of 4 Black-Owned places to Dine while Exploring Downtown Atlanta:
Soul Bar at Pal’s Lounge
Sweet Auburn Seafood
BQE Lounge
M Bar
Each of these establishments not only offer great food, but place a keen focus on customer service, entertainment, and specialty cocktails. Select each restaurant name to visit their official website for upcoming events, full menus, and more awesome foodie pics!
Black-Owned, Black-Operated.
So before you make a reservation to just another popular food chain, consider one of the dope venues listed above. From Hookah to Live Music, the Sweet Auburn District has several dining choices to service customers in and around Atlanta!
So what are you waiting for? Grab some friends (or go solo-dolo) and get to know Sweet Auburn Ave. in Downtown Atlanta!
With Love for Atlanta,
Belle in the City, Giselle
