March 12th, 2020, Atlanta, GA / Giselle Ave. Media — Schools closed, until further notice. E3 Gaming conference cancelled. Colleges are moving classes online, yet students are still expected to pay tuition, and find housing and meals on their own. SXSW 2020, for the first time in 34 years– cancelled. International flights are limited. Italy is on lockdown. Coachella postponed. United States suspends travel from Europe. And this is only a first look at the immediate effects of the current global health crisis, known as Coronavirus (COVID-19), that has literally made the world stop!
Do you want to know what the first thought that comes to my mind?
How to make a daily commitment to living in faith over living in fear, but safety first!

Can we all give a fabulous shoutout to Naomi Campbell’s effortless MOOD as she traveled yesterday, in the midst of all the craziness happening in the media and in real life due to Coronavirus? I mean, keep it cute, keep it classy. As we all try to wrap our heads around how we, too, can be this fashionably fierce and safe at the same time, I’d like to shed light on how important it is to live in faith, not fear!
Faith Over Fear
I get it, if you turn on the news right now or even scroll down your social media timeline, you’re most likely considering everything that can possibly go wrong in your life right now, in the midst of the global coronavirus pandemic:
Will my job force me to work from home?
Will I have enough food to last until this thing blows over?
Wait, why is all the toilet paper running out? Do we have toilet paper at home?
So I have to stay home, what will I do at home?
Is every event I had planned this year legit cancelled?
With so many questions going through your mind, I am here to share 3 answers to a simple, yet loaded question: How do you choose to live in faith over fear daily?
Frankly, the outside world-– as in the world you see with your own two eyes, everyday– has built its entire foundation off of fear. Think about it, from our school systems, to financial institutions, to religious organizations– the lowest common denominator is fear. Fear of your child missing too many days of school, and getting left behind or even worst– having the Department of Child & Family Services coming to knock on your door to learn why your child isn’t at school! Fear that this very government organization will come and take your child. Fear that rejecting school will lead to a life of poverty.
In finance and banking, there is so much fear of rejection. Fear of losing your money in the stock market. Fear of the bank being robbed while you’re making a quick stop to deposit some cash! So much fear. And last but not least, the good ole’ church. Why would the church instill fear? Isn’t this the place to go to be inspired of filled up with love, and hope? Technically, but not actually. While I’m no religious leader, I am firmly aware that many religious organizations are rooted in the idea that your eternal salvation can only be obtained through the church. People actually FEAR NOT going to church! Is this what faith looks like? Or is it a plot twist on the concept of fear.
In contrast, your inside world– as in your pure consciousness that comes from within yourself, and is completely untainted by things you see going on in the outside world — is built different.
Faith is knowing, like really knowing, what is for you and what is not. It’s being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see. Faith is an inside job. Faith is something that carries you through life. Faith is being unbothered by what’s going on outside of you– because whatever happens was supposed to happen anyway. Faith is betting on yourself, daily. Faith is creating the life you want, because you have faith in your vision.
3 Ways to Choose Faith Over Fear, Daily
Naomi Campbell’s choice to take the flight and get to work, instead of opting out of plane travel because of what she is seeing online, is an exemplary act of walking by faith and not fear! It’s time for you to start choosing faith over fear, so that you can experience your inside world from a different perspective.
Here are 3 ways you can choose to live in faith daily, because yes it IS a daily commitment!
Don’t Trust In What You See
In 2018, a Netflix Original Movie, Bird Box, started streaming and everyone chimed in on their theory on what exactly happened during the film. To me, the moral of the story is don’t trust in what you see, because our eyes can play tricks on us! Do you remember what happened to people when they used their eyes and LOOKED? If you don’t recall, go rewatch the movie with your mind open. We live in an outside world rooted in fear, so just know that most of what we are being encouraged to see, is in fact a seed to plant fear. Instead of focusing on what you’re seeing online or in the news, focus on listening to the voice that comes from within.
Your inner voice can be channeled through meditation, prayer, working out, or consuming yourself in meaningful, passionate work. Of course, you can do things necessary to stay informed, but take everything with a grain of salt!
Do Your Own Research, Knowledge Is Power
Speaking of salt, do your own research. In the midst of a global pandemic, and everyone everywhere reporting the “facts,” now is the time to form your own questions, and do your own research to find the truth. The truth is hidden in plain sight, but many of us would rather go off of what you SAW online, or what someone TOLD you– instead of researching topics for yourself. Most of our lives are suggested to us, go to college, work this job, wear these clothes, join that group! WOW!
Can you imagine how much of your life would be slightly different if you did your own research and formed your own opinions? Faith is something that grows overtime. Thinking for yourself and knowing yourself is a powerful way to live by faith.
Keep Your Vibration High
Do what you love! Vibrate higher, from doing what you love! If you don’t know what you love, find out! Higher vibratory frequencies thrive off of love, faith, and creativity. Lower vibratory frequencies thrive off of hate, fear, and envy. The choice is yours. If you’re not falling in love with your life, figure out how you can attract higher vibrations into your life. Now more than ever, industries are literally going under left and right. Major layoffs, and the stock market is crashing. But, when you wake up everyday doing what you love, none of this bothers you. You learn how to transfer your passion and energy into creating a business that works for you! I’m on Giselle Ave. keeping my vibration high, and keeping lower vibrations far away from me. In 2020, I vowed to protect my energy and peace this decade and it has been working in my FAVOR thus far!
We can’t go outside, so we have to go inside.
We are being encouraged to go INSIDE, because we can’t go OUTSIDE. As the global pandemic and fear associated with Coronavirus grows, we have to use our own preventative measures to keep our safety and health in mind.
Reject fear. Fear-based media, fear-based friendships, fear-based family that can only see the glass half empty. Wash your hands. Use hand sanitizer. Stay inside. In this case, inside means to go inside yourself for the answers you seek. Do your own research to obtain new knowledge about topics and matters. Don’t believe in what you see, instead use BLIND FAITH to protect your energy.
As we continue to watch this global pandemic unfold, we must continue to commit daily to living in faith, and not fear.
In love, light, and blind faith,
Belle in the City Giselle
